Privacy Policy: Blue Volley Video
Last updated: September 22, 2026
1. What this policy covers
Blue Fermion Labs (Blue Fermion, LLC; "we") makes Blue Volley Video, a pair of apps for recording and editing volleyball games:
- Volley Video Recorder, an Android app.
- Volley Video Editor, a desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux.
Both apps appear on your device as "Blue Volley Video". This policy covers the apps. The bluefermionlabs.com website has its own website privacy policy.
2. The short version
- Your recordings and game data stay on your own devices. We run no servers for these apps, and we never receive your videos, your location or your Google data.
- There is no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting in the apps.
- The only time data leaves your device is when you choose to use the optional Google Drive features described in section 5. That data goes directly between your device and your own Google account.
3. What the Recorder uses on your phone
- Camera and microphone: to record video with sound while a game is running. Recordings are saved in the app's folder on your phone's storage.
- Location (optional): when you start a game, the Recorder asks your phone for one location fix and saves it as the venue location in that game's
game.jsonfile. If you do not grant location access, recording works the same and no location is saved. - Notifications: Android shows a notification while the Recorder is recording.
- Game details you enter: game title, team and opponent names, capture settings and the time of every tap are saved in
clips.jsonandgame.jsonnext to the video.game.jsonalso records the phone model, Android version and app version used for the recording. - No cloud backup: the Recorder opts out of Android's automatic cloud backup and device-to-device transfer.
4. What the Editor uses on your computer
The Editor reads the videos and .json files in its games folder (volley_games in your home folder), and uses FFmpeg on your computer to cut and join clips. Everything it creates is saved on your computer. Editing and exporting need no internet connection.
5. Google Drive (optional)
Both apps can work with your Google Drive, but only if you choose to. Nothing is sent to Google unless you use one of these features. Both apps ask Google only for the drive.file permission, which gives them access to the files that Blue Volley Video created (or that you opened with it), and not to the rest of your Drive.
- Recorder: Google Drive export. You sign in with your Google account. The Recorder asks for your email address (to identify the account on your phone) and for the
drive.filepermission. It uploads the game you choose to export (its video clips and.jsonfiles, including the venue location if one was saved) to aVolleyRecorderfolder in your Drive. Files already there are not uploaded again. - Editor: Google Drive sync. Google sign-in opens in your web browser. The Editor asks for the same
drive.filepermission. It uses it only to download the games in theVolleyRecorderfolder that the Recorder uploaded into its games folder, and never overwrites a file already on your computer. It never changes or deletes anything in your Drive. The sign-in token is stored on your computer, in the.volley_editor_tokens_drive_filefolder in your home folder.
Data from Google Drive is used only to provide these features. It is transferred directly between your device and Google; it never passes through our servers, and we never see it. We do not sell it, do not use it for advertising, do not share it with anyone, and do not use it to develop, improve or train generalized AI or machine-learning models.
Blue Volley Video's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
To remove access, go to myaccount.google.com/permissions and remove the app's access. On a computer you can also delete the .volley_editor_tokens_drive_file folder. Files already copied to your Drive stay there until you delete them from Drive.
6. Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share your data, because we never receive it. When you use Google sign-in or Google Drive, Google processes that data under the Google Privacy Policy.
7. Keeping and deleting your data
Your recordings and game files stay on your devices until you delete them. Deleting a game in the Recorder deletes its files from your phone. Copies you exported to Google Drive, or moved to a computer, stay there until you delete them yourself.
8. Children
The apps are tools for coaches, parents and players, not services directed at children, and we do not collect personal information from anyone. Games you record may show minors: see the Terms of Service for your responsibilities when recording.
9. Changes
If the apps start handling data differently, we will update this page and the date above before that version is released.
